Summer officially started yesterday and I am ready to fill it with new adventures and experiences. Here is a list of things I want to accomplish (hopefully!) in the next couple of months.
1. Tour Alcatraz (finally after living in Bay Area for almost 16 years).
2. See one of the small towns in northern California (Mendocino, most probably). Road trip!
3. Attend a wedding of one of my high school friends and one of my friend's brother's wedding.
4. Visit my brother in Panama.
5. Take up Pilates.
6. Learn something new to cook.
Last year (I believe it was October 22nd) I had a photo shoot with a Bay Area based photographer Jill Johnson. I wanted to do this to selfishly preserve something to show my future progeny that I was "easy on the eyes" ;) You may not know, but I loved 40's and 50's time period. It seems so romantic, simple, and stylish-of course that limited opinion is based on the classic movie titles I have watched. Anyways, I had told her that I wanted a vintage inspired photo shoot-think The Notebook and the end product came out more fabulous than I thought it would.
Part of the package was a makeup and costume change. Tia drove down from Oregon and brought all sorts of fun costumes and makeup for me to use. It was so much fun playing dress up and the pictures came out AMAZING. The shoot was in the middle of downtown San Jose. I was very nervous and self conscious, but it got kinda fun once we got into it. Coincidently, we met with an actor (a Clint Eastward impersonator) who thought I was an actual a modal.
We shot in a hotel lobby, staircase, elevator and lounge area. Then the last shoot was in a telephone booth that one would find in UK. Love that part! I finally got the album last week and I wanted to compliment Jill Johnson on her work. Both her and Tia made it a memorable experience for me and I would definitely recommend Jill to anyone.
I was watching The Sound of Music a few days ago when I heard the familiar "My favorite things" song. It reminded me of my 6th grade music class. I use to sing this song while playing footsies with my friends under the table (it was an all girls school and we had limited options, I guess). Then I thought to myself that I try to be thoughtful and make mental notes of what my friends and family like, but I never really focus on my favorite things. So I came up with a list:
