Royal Wedding

So Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married on April 29th, 2011. I wasn't alive during Prince Charles and Lady Diana's nuptials so I definitely do not want to miss this royal wedding. While the royal family of England is busy with their wedding plans, I have thought of things to do to celebrate the wedding too- English style.

1. Buy scones and cakes from Satura bakery.
2. Set the alarm clock for 2:45 a.m. on Friday.
3. Make tea (preferably earl grey or Tetley)
4. Turn to CNN for the wedding coverage.
5. Enjoy "high tea" while watching the wedding services take place.

Here is the wedding schedule:
(London Time)

10:30 am: Prince William and Kate Middleton travel to the service. She will travel by car – starting either at Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace or Clarence House – along The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and Parliament Square.
11:00 am: Wedding service at Westminster Abbey, whose capacity is 2,200. The Dean of Westminster, the Very Rev Dr John Hall, will conduct the service but the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, will marry the couple. The Bishop of London, the Rt Rev Richard Chartres, will then give an address.
12:00 pm: The married couple will travel in a carriage procession to Buckingham Palace, crossing Parliament Square before going along Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and The Mall.
12:30 pm: The Queen will give a reception at Buckingham Palace for the newlyweds and a selection of several hundred guests from the congregation.
6:00 pm: The Prince of Wales will give a private dinner at the palace for the couple, their close friends and family followed by dancing.

Countries I Have Visited/Lived in (updated)

I've had my passport for almost ten years and it is close to its expiration date. On my recent trip to Peru, I had a chance to look through all the custom's stamps I have accumulated through my travels. Here is the updated list of countries whose stamps I have in my passport (mostly). It will be missed.

I love to travel and here are some beautiful countries I have visited/lived in:
1. Pakistan (lived)
2. United States of America (lived)
3. Germany (2008)
4. Spain (2001)
5. Switzerland (2001)
6. Italy/Vatican City (2001)
7. Greece (2001)
8. Austria (2007 & 2008)
9. Japan (2005)
10. Mexico (2006 & 2008)
11. Canada (1999)
12. Hong Kong (People's Republic of China) (2008)
13. Singapore (1992)
14. Hungary (2007)
15. Czech Republic (2007)
16. Costa Rica (2010)
17. England (2001)
18. Peru (2011)

Peru's Things to Do

I just returned from a fulfilling, yet tiring trip from Peru this morning. After getting things back in order (unpacking, laundry, checking mail/e-mails, calling people to let them know I have arrived), I finally have some time to type the list I had created before flying down to Peru. I like to think I travel with a purpose. Whether it is learn about a new culture, see sights that I read about in books or saw in movies, walk among landscapes unfamiliar to me, reconnecting with where I come from, or spending time with family I rarely get to see.
Peru had been on my list since high school for one reason- Macchu Picchu. The Nazca lines were an attractive draw as well, but the real pull for me to actually take the plunge and fly below the equator (for the first time, may I add) was this Inca treasure. Well, I was not disappointed. It was actually much more incredible to see than I had imagined. But, that is another blog entry which will follow soon.

Here was my list:
1. See Macchu Picchu
2. See and touch a Lama and Alpaca
3. Eat Ceviche
4. Try the baked guinea pig

As you can see, I accomplished 3/4 of my list. After I saw the guinea pig brought out from an oven during one of my day trips in Cuzco, I couldn't help, but change my mind. And I am perfectly fine not having tasted it.
